Summer Camp in Japan!

For Students Aged 12-16

The Manjiro Society for International Exchange is organizing a group of young people to attend a summer camp in Japan.  This year we will go to the Tokyo YWCA (co-educational) Summer Camp at Lake Nojiri in Nagano Prefecture.  This is a unique opportunity for American and Japanese students to share their ways of life, culture, and language in a natural camp setting.  This is the first time American students have been invited to join this long-established camp.  An adult bilingual volunteer from the Manjiro Society will accompany the group for the entire trip.

Date: Depart Dulles Airport (IAD) July 24, 2006.  Return Dulles IAD August 5

Cost: $2,900, includes airfare, ground transportation, camp fees and activities, sight seeing, meals, and four nights in Tokyo (Tokyo YMCA Asia Youth Center).

Applicants should be from 12 to 16 years old, interested in learning about another culture and in teaching their own culture.

Deadline for application: May 31, 2006.  $100 due with application.

This camp is operated by the Tokyo YWCA, and has run since 1930. The leaders of the camp are well-trained professional camp counselors.
