International Camp

Pembroke Springs, Virginia
August 1-14, 2000

Location

The camp site is located at Pembroke Springs, in the Shenandoah Mountains, about 90 miles from Washington, DC, on 175 acres of private land with a forest, pond, mini-farm, and a spectaclar view of the North Mountain.

Who can attend?

American children age 12-15 (middle school) who are interested in learning about other cultures (including language) and eager to communicate and introduce their own culture. The local children will be spending 6 days together with 20 Japanese children who will be coming directly from Japan.

This is a unique international camp. The purpose of the camp is to encourage children to communicate with children from other cultures through a variety of daily activities such as sports, music, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, sightseeing trips, discussions, cooking and feeding animals together. At the end of 6 days children discover another world, establish lasting friendships and learn to respect differences of another culture.
