Japan-America Youth Orchestra Exchange

Chiba City, Japan
March 25 - April 4, 1999

It will be two years in March since twenty four members of the Chiba Youth Orchestra visited the McLean Youth Orchestra and enjoyed a great program. Not only did the students enjoy playing at the concert, they were able to get a glimpse of American life and culture through their homestay with local families. The purpose of this exchange program is to learn about other cultures, through music. The Chiba Youth Orchestra has now invited members of the McLean Youth Orchestra to visit them and play in their 15th Anniversary Spring Concert on March 28, 1999. This is a great opportunity to visit Japan and meet new and old friends.

The Manjiro Society for International Exchange is sponsoring and coordinating this special trip. This is not a McLean Youth Orchestra sponsored activity. Interested persons should contact the Manjiro Society.

The trip will cost $1,580 per student (with homestay) and $1,900 per adult (includes hotel accommodations). A $300 deposit is due by October 15, 1998 and full payment due by January 15, 1999. If full payment is made before November 30, 1998, a 5% discount will be allowed.

Cancellation: Before February 1, 1999, the full amount minus the deposit will be returned. Between February 2 and 15, 1999, you will get 50% of the full amount back. After February 15, 1999, you will get 25% of the full amount back.
